  • The BIG Kit Car Buyer's Guide
    01 May 2006

The BIG Kit Car Buyer’s Guide is a virtual shopping trip through all the kit cars the authors were able to round up. There are kits for amateurs and kits for pros. There are kits to convert Pontiac Fieros, Volkswagens, Camaros and more into something unique and exotic. The book has been divided into sections to make searching for a particular kind of kit easier. Included are brief descriptions of each car, how to contact the manufacturer, what’s included in the kit, what options are available, pricing and other information you might need in your search for the right kit car project. There are more than 150 kits represented in this book, so you’re sure to find something that’s a good fit for your skills and budget.

Over 120 companies are outlined offering…
    • 41 Cobra and Daytona Coupe replicas
    • 35 Exotics including replicas of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and original designs
    • 13 Porsche replicas including 356 Speedsters and 550 Spyders
    • 8 GT40 replicas
    • 30 Hot Rods of practically every description
    • 38 Classics including Austin Healey, MG, Thunder Bird, Corvette, Mercedes, Cord, Maseratti, Lister, Lotus, Jaguar, Auburn replicas and many more.
    • Plus VW-based kits and offroad kits

The book also contains a handy “10 Kit Buying Tips” story and a regional kit car club director.

The BIG Kit Car Buyer’s Guide was written by two industry veterans, Harold Pace and Jim Youngs.

Harold Pace is generally recognized as the guru of old kit cars. In fact, he authored another National Kit Car Club, “The BIG Guide to Kit and Specialty Cars,” the most comprehensive history of kit cars ever written. In addition, Harold is a frequent contributor to Kit Car Builder magazine and several other specialty car publications. He also races vintage kit cars and is in the process of building up a 50s-era Devin SS which was never assembled.

Jim Youngs is the Director of the National Kit Car Club and Editor of the club’s magazine, Kit Car Builder. Jim was the editor of Petersen’s Kit Car magazine for 5 years and freelanced for the magazine for 5 years prior to becoming its editor. He is also a gearhead and has personally built 4 kit cars, assisted on numerous other build-ups and regularly tinkers with some resto-mod, old production car projects.

Discounted price of $34.95 + $8.00 shipping & handling. (NKCC Members take $2.00 off price of book)
